Dr. Jenuarrie, a woman of Koinjmal heritage, hails from the eastern coastal plains of Central Queensland.
Dr. Jenuarrie is an acclaimed First Nations artist whose arts and cultural leadership was recognized recently with the award of an Honorary Doctorate from Central Queensland University
We extend an invitation for you to join us, hear about her experiences, and enjoy some delicious traditional delicacies offered by the Koinjmal Peoples from Koinmerburra Country as part of the event.
Dr. Jenuarrie is the author of Gift of Knowledge, an honest testament to her life and journey as an artist.
"My book briefly touches on the origins and chronological history of the Lapita culture, based on what I learned from my research and interpreted into my own creative work and story,” Dr. Jenuarrie said.
“This belated interest in Melanesia and the Lapita pottery tradition began as curiosity, not from any heartfelt yearning for a lost cultural connection to an unknown part of my heritage.”
