Clermont Museum

Welcome to Wangan and Jagalingou country.

The Clermont Museum celebrates the rich and diverse heritage of Clermont, Copperfield, and Blair Athol, with an emphasis on settler, mining, and agricultural histories.

The extensive collection of artefacts has been contributed by local families and businesses in the region. Displays include:

  • Aveling and Porter No 6803 steam engine which was used to shift the town after the 1916 flood
  • Clermont Fire Brigade truck
  • Jacques Diesel Powered Shovel and Ruston Steam Shovel used at the Blair Athol Mine
  • Glenmore Shearing Shed, Cosmans Livery, Chiconi Stables, and the Peak Downs Masonic Lodge.

The Clermont Museum won the 2022 Mackay Isaac Tourism Award for Best Tourist Attraction.

At this time, the Clermont Museum is unable to accept object donations as we are focused on improving the care and management of our existing collection. Many items require preservation, and cataloguing is still in progress to ensure they are properly documented and cared for. We are actively working through a Collection Management Plan with guidance from Queensland Museum, and once key recommendations have been implemented, we will review the moratorium on donations. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work towards preserving our region’s history more effectively.

Diary of a landscape is an exhibition that delves into the rich tapestry of stories woven by those who traversed this terrain. Through the lens of junk journal aesthetics, we discover the art of documenting personal and collective history, unearthing hidden treasures, and leaving our indelible footprints on the ever-evolving canvas of our world.
