Cr Viv Coleman, with more than two decades of residency in the Isaac area and an active presence in St Lawrence, boasts a profound personal attachment to the locality.
Drawing from a diverse professional background spanning construction, waste management, agriculture, tourism, and real estate, Cr Coleman brings a wealth of local business expertise to the table. Driven by a desire to bridge the gap between the community and Council, Cr Coleman is dedicated to advocating for the region.
She volunteers her time and collaborates with local non-profit organisations, fostering meaningful connections with residents and honouring the region's Traditional Owners.
Her commitment extends to promoting social sustainability and enhancing the quality of life within our communities. Cr Coleman actively participates in community events, nurturing opportunities for growth and fostering a thriving environment. Additionally, she maintains a steadfast commitment to charitable endeavours, notably supporting Variety Queensland.
Viv Coleman holds numerous committee roles across different sectors. As Chair of the Planning Environment and Community Services Standing Committee, she engages with the Engineering and Infrastructure and Water and Waste Standing Committees.
Additionally, she serves as a Proxy Member of the Audit and Risk Advisory Committee and is a member of the Isaac Local Disaster Management Group. Within internal committees, she contributes to the Advocacy Group, chairs the Beneficial Reuse of Recycled Water Working Group and the Isaac Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee, and participates in the Nebo Showgrounds Masterplan Advisory Committee, Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, and the St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend Strategic Planning Steering Group.
Externally, Viv is involved in the Clarke Creek Wind Farm Community Consultative Committee, Fitzroy Basin Association, Greater Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Local Marine Advisory Committee of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Mackay Isaac Tourism Limited (as a Board Member), NQ Dry Tropics, Reef Catchments (Mackay Whitsunday Inc) as a Board Member, and the Reef Guardian Council Executive Committee.
