An exciting opportunity exists for a permanent full time Electrician to become part of our Water and Waste Directorate. This opportunity will ideally be based in Moranbah however there is potential for our preferred candidate to be based in other strategic locations in the Isaac region, should you desire and being acceptable to Council!

The Water and Waste Directorate ensures an integrated approach to internal organisational services across the organisation. The Operations and Maintenance Department is responsible for managing and maintaining a safe, quality water supply and reliable waste collection and treatment service to the Isaac Regional Council communities. These services are managed in alignment with regulatory and legislative requirements.

The Electrician is responsible for providing expert technical, maintenance, installation, contract management of smaller sized maintenance projects and programming support for Council’s assets across various sites located in the region.

Travel around the region is a perk of the role, as our Council Assets span across St Lawrence, Nebo, Dysart, Middlemount, Clermont, Glenden and Moranbah. Overnight accommodation and allowances will be provided as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Electrical Trade qualifications and demonstrated experience are essential;
  • Relevant licensing for trade; Trade certificate (Australian Standard);
  • General induction Card;
  • Ability to be immunised against Hepatitis A& B and Tetanus;
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment functional assessment and/or behavioural testing;
  • The role requires the possession of a current C Class Open Australian Drivers Licence;
  • EWP Ticket (Desirable);
  • Hold valid Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets (Desirable);


For this position we offer:

  • $66,299.83 per annum, an over-award payment + allowances, including
    • $21,000 Over Award Payment
    • Construction workers allowance
    • Locality allowance
    • Tool allowance
    • Tool of Trade Vehicle
  • Nominally 76 hours per fortnight with flexible work pattern options
  • Subsidised Council housing: $80.00 per week
  • 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading
  • Up to 14% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
  • RDO’s in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
  • Flexible working arrangements available 
  • Location within Isaac may be negotiable for the right candidate
