Casual Pool Lifeguard

Isaac Regional Council currently have an exciting opportunity for two (2) Casual Pool Lifeguards at the Greg Cruickshank Aquatic Centre. Reporting to the Pool Coordinator, the Casual Pool Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons through effective and diligent supervision.

You’ll join a team of responsible, approachable, confident swimmers in supervising the pool and surrounding areas. Together, you’ll uphold the highest standards of care and safety to make sure our swimmers have fun, stay active and gain confidence in the water. Primary duties will include pool supervision, lifesaving, identifying and reducing risk and administering first aid.

Isaac Regional Council is keen to provide ample opportunities for the community, and so if you do not possess the right credentials, IRC will provide the training required to gain the qualifications necessary to perform the role and are flexible on the start date in the role, for the right candidate.

About you:
Demonstrated experience in customer service and a full understanding of excellent customer service

  1. Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the effective operation of a pool complex;
  2. The ability to provide adequate supervision of aquatic facilities to ensure safety of all facility users;
  3. Demonstrated ability to work both under minimal supervision, and as a team player;
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, including the ability to communicate and consult
  5. Current certification in (or ability to obtain):
    • First Aid and CPR;
    • Lifeguard and
    • Working with Children Blue Card.
  6. Willingness to work flexible hours as required, incorporating weekends and public holidays.

For this position we offer:

  • $38.94 per hour
  • Commencing late August – early September 2024
  • Fixed Term contract through until: Friday 25 April 2025
  • Requirement to work rostered shifts during September, Christmas and Easter school holidays
  • Must be available 13th and 14th September 2024 for accredited training courses
  • Must be located in Moranbah
