An exciting opportunity is available for a permanent full time Environment & Sustainability Officer in our Planning, Environment and Community Services Directorate based in the Isaac Region. Reporting to the Program Leader – Environment and Biodiversity this position takes a lead role in developing, implementing and maintaining programs which encourage and increase sustainable practices throughout the Isaac community.
The Liveability and Sustainability Departments purpose is to ensure that Isaac’s future is planned in an integrated and sustainable manner. The department’s planning needs to drive and enable strong social, environmental and economic futures for the Region.
For this position we offer:
- Salary between $86,736.17- $93,628.40 per annum (Stream A Level 4-5)
- Full time (72.5 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday)
- Location is negotiable within the Isaac Region
- 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading
- Up to 14% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement

About You:
We are seeking an enthusiastic person who possesses:
- A current C Class Open Australian Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated understanding of economic, environmental and legislative issues impacting coastal/natural resources.
- Completion of Agricultural Chemical Distribution License or willingness to undertake as a priority on commencement of employment.
- Proven ability to plan and implement community programs, projects and training, including the ability to develop and maintain business and industry partnerships.
- High-level written and interpersonal skills including advanced negotiation, liaison, mediation skills and public speaking.
- Demonstrated research, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills, transferrable to this position.
- Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A wiliness to grow and learn.
