Program Leader - Development Assessment

Isaac Regional Council (IRC) is currently seeking a self-motivated and highly skilled Program Leader – Development Assessment to join our Liveability & Sustainability Department on a permanent full-time basis, located within the Isaac Region.
  
In this newly created leadership position, you will be required to take the lead in ensuring development assessment and statutory land use planning functions are completed efficiently, effectively and collaboratively across Isaac Regional Council, whilst providing supervision and mentoring to other members of the Livability and Sustainability team.
  
We are looking for a proactive planner who is looking to challenge and develop themselves while supporting Council’s growth into a high-functioning, modern town planning service provider.
  
For this position we offer:
  • Salary $108,838.22 - $132,170.38 per annum (Stream A, Level 7 – 8)
  • Subsidised Housing and vehicle allowance provided;
  • Up to 14% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement.
  • 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading;
  • RDO’s (9-day fortnight) in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement;

About you:
  • You will have significant experience with the practical application of a local government planning scheme and State and Commonwealth legislation to deliver development assessment functions in a local government context;
  • Your excellent understanding in managing diverse program workloads, building a positive team culture and problem solving on matters of a complex nature shall support the team with achieving performance targets for allocated workloads and projects;
  • You shall possess high-quality written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and be capable of building positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in land use planning or other relevant fields with a minimum of fve years post graduate land use planning experience is essential, with specific experience in local government development assessment processes highly desirable.

The Isaac Region borders the Mackay, Whitsunday, Charters Towers Central Highlands and Rockhampton Local Government Areas.   Moranbah, the region’s largest township, is located a 2-hour drive from Mackay while it also serviced by a commercial airport which provides daily flights to and from Brisbane.  The region has a permanent population of 20,935 people with an additional non-resident population of 12,130 (fly in/fly out and drive in/drive out).
