Clermont Precautionary boiled water alert - Tuesday, 28 December 2021
Published on 28 December 2021
As a precautionary measure, Council requests that all residents in Clermont boil tap water used for drinking following discolouration due to manganese and iron.
This alert is precautionary and applies to all residents in Clermont from 4:00pm Tuesday, 28 December 2021.
Isaac Regional Council is working closely with Queensland Health as a precaution until the situation is resolved.
Council will have a water tanker available at Hoods Lagoon this afternoon until 5:30pm 28 February 2021 and tomorrow Wednesday, 29 December 2021 from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Limited bottled water will be available for pensioners and vulnerable community members from beside the water tanker Wednesday, 29 December 2021 from 8:00am to 5:00pm
The boil water alert will stay in effect until the Isaac Regional Council and Queensland Health are confident the situation is resolved. Regular updates will be provided to affected communities.
People should use cooled boiled water or bottled water for:
• drinking.
• brushing teeth.
• preparing and cooking foods.
• washing raw foods such as fruit and vegetables.
• preparing beverages and making ice.
• preparing baby formula.
• sponge-bathing infants.
Unboiled drinking water can be used for:
• showering and bathing other than infants (avoid getting water in the mouth).
• washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher.
• washing clothes.
• flushing toilets.
People should bring drinking water to a rolling boil and then allow water to cool before using it or storing it in a clean, closed container for later use.
Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable for producing boiled water. Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil.
Residents should share this alert with neighbours and friends.
While the quality of water leaving the plant and being experienced across town continues to meet public health requirements, the quality of the raw water coming into the system is changing frequently therefore we are taking the precautionary step to issue this boiled water advice.
Residents who are returning from holidays or have not used their water for a long period of time are recommended to turn all the cold water taps on within the house until such time there is clear water running from the taps. That water may be cloudy due to no usage and so flushing will pull through newer water
