Flying Foxes, Middlemount

Flying foxes have been reported camping in residential trees in Middlemount. This is the first time in over 5 years that flying foxes in Middlemount have been reported to Council.

Vegetation management is a proven method to deter flying foxes from establishing camps on properties. Council encourages property owners to undertake vegetation management on their property such as trimming branches and opening tree canopies.

Management actions by residents or Council on flying foxes are regulated by the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation and should be in accordance with the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
