Roam your own way in the Isaac region
Published on 01 June 2023
The Isaac region is poised to become one of the most epic road trips in Queensland.
From pumice stone peaks, rich gold prospecting plains and untouched coastal escapes visitors can explore the region thanks to new self-drive itineraries.
Isaac Regional Council in collaboration with Mackay Isaac Tourism have developed a tourism campaign designed to showcase a region that’s more than mining.
Mayor Anne Baker said the Isaac region is one of the most visited places for business in Australia due to the major resource, renewables, and agricultural industries.
“We are taking advantage of these mechanisms because there’s a new story to be discovered in every corner of the Isaac region,” Mayor Baker said.
“Roam your own way by striking gold, camping while gazing at moonlit skies, experiencing rich history, viewing volcanic formations from the air, casting a line, and enjoying a good old-fashioned country pub meal.
“The Isaac region is set to share its secrets, and everyone’s invited to create their own memorable road trip on a road less travel.
“The aim of the campaign is for travellers to find their sense of adventure and to visit wide-open places and spaces to awaken their spirit. It’s time to roam the Isaac region your own way.”
Mackay Isaac Tourism CEO Al Grundy said itineraries have been created to primarily focus on the uniqueness of the Isaac region being the roads less travelled.
“So, in true Isaac style, hold onto your hat, you’re about to experience Queensland’s best kept secret,” Mr Grundy said.
“Roam the landscapes and uncover the eccentric towns of the bush that are rich with history.
“From wetlands to country plains, cattle stations and freshwater creeks, the options are endless for travellers looking for a getaway to recharge in nature.”
