Isaac Regional Council wishes to advise residents that the installation of the weighbridge at Clermont Waste Management Facility has been completed. A new weighbridge, gatehouse, electronic equipment and new roads have been constructed and are ready for use in like with the State Government Legislation (section 57(1)(c) of the Waste Reduction & Recycling Act 2011) from:

What changes will I notice at the dump?

  • New entrance / exit to the right of the current entrance.
  • New weighbridge which all vehicles will have to drive across to enter and leave the site.
  • The site operator will be stationed in a new gatehouse.
  • There will be minor changes to internal site roads and traffic management.
  • New skips will be in place for household waste.
  • Minor changes to layout of the resource recovery area. (Recycled Materials area)
  • Traffic lights and boom gates are now in place to ensure safe two-way traffic.
  • What isn’t changing?

  • No changes to opening times, fees and charges, chargeable and non-chargeable items.
  • Recording of waste transactions, vehicle registration numbers and other information – which has been in place since 2011.

     

    What changes will there be to my experience of visiting the dump?

  • All vehicles MUST drive across the weighbridge. (Legislative requirement)
  • All visitors MUST report the type of waste items so the operator can direct to the correct disposal point. (Legislative requirement)
  • Waste will be weighed to determine a weight that is accurate to the nearest 20kg. (Legislative requirement)
  • Visitors may be asked to deposit waste in a different location away from the active landfill face.
  • Visitors may experience a short delay waiting for boom gates to raise.
  • Images of waste transactions at the weighbridge will be captured by Council’s waste data system, compliant with privacy legislation.

     

    What else do I need to know?

  • The weighbridge installation is in line with section 57(1)(c) of the Waste Reduction & Recycling Act 2011 – with every landfill in Queensland from 1 July 2024.
  • All vehicles including large trucks, private cars, utes and trailers carrying waste destined for landfill must weigh in and out of the site via the weighbridge, a requirement of the Waste Reduction & Recycling Act 2011.
