A kaleidoscope of cultural and food experiences at St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend are set to fly at the birdwatching mecca as tickets go on sale today.

First Nations’ dining experiences, a celebrity chef and a Logie-winning gardener are set to paint the small coastal Central Queensland town red this 24-26 June 2022.

Residents and visitors will immerse themselves in the multiple award-winning event’s additional culinary and cultural experiences from the Koinjmal People of Koinmerburra Country and the Kulgoodah dancers.

Bush tucker and regional provenance star Nik Flak will join crowd favourites celebrity chef Matt Golinksi and Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the much-loved community event will entice visitors from across Australia.

“This is an incredibly unique opportunity for everyone to travel to St Lawrence to learn about our First Nations’ connection to this picturesque piece of the Isaac Coast and also discover our local wildlife and produce,” Mayor Baker said.

“The St Lawrence Wetlands is part of the larger Broadsound wetlands and is noted as a wetland of national significance particularly in relation to migratory birds and presence of the endangered Capricorn Yellow Chat species.”

Favourites like the long table lunch with celebrity chef Matt Golinski and the popular gardening talks with Logie winner Costa Georgiadis will feature along with bush tucker tours with traditional owners, education stalls about connection to country and art workshops.

The 2022 St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend is proudly brought to the region by Isaac Regional Council in partnership with community and government partners.

The St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and is a feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
