Are you a strategic thinker with strong political acumen and a passion for weaving political insights into impactful communications and marketing strategies?

We’re on the lookout for a dynamic and politically astute Communications Coordinator to take the lead in delivering high-quality, forward-thinking media and communication initiatives across the Council.
The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of communications, marketing, and political expertise.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  1. Minimum three (3) years of experience in journalism, communication, or public relations.
  2. High level of political acumen gained from working within the public sector.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of media and public relations in local government.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media management.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  7. Exceptional personal initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  8. Tertiary qualifications in Media and Communications, Marketing, Journalism, and/or Public Relations are highly desirable.

For this position we offer:

  • Salary $108,838.22 per annum (Stream A, Level 7)
  • Permanent, Full Time
  • 5 weeks annual leave pro-rata @ 17.5% loading
  • Up to 14% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
